The short answer
Pay for the constraint that needs solving, the capability needed to solve it, and a measurement plan. A low monthly fee is expensive when it funds activity with no accountable outcome.
Why one market price is misleading
A small local services website, a marketplace and a regional e-commerce catalogue do not require the same work. Platform condition, competition, existing authority, internal capacity and the number of markets all change the scope.
A useful proposal therefore explains the starting condition, the workstreams, the delivery ownership and the evidence used to change priorities.
The main cost drivers
Most credible scopes are shaped by a short set of variables.
- Technical complexity and template count
- Content inventory and expert-review effort
- Competitive strength of the target demand
- Developer, design and analytics support already available
- Speed and breadth of the commercial goal
How to compare proposals
Compare the diagnosis, priorities, deliverables and verification process before comparing the total fee. Ask which work is included, which work depends on your team, what happens after a release and how progress will be explained when rankings fluctuate.
Red flags
Be careful with guaranteed positions, fixed link quantities, hundreds of pages created from one template, reports built around a single tool score, or proposals that do not ask what a valuable conversion is.
